Overview:

The Flughafenbetriebskompanie´s (FBK) primary duty was repair and service for all the aircraft of a specific unit. The FBK belonged to the various Gruppen of the heavier units, incl. Kampfgeschwader, Sturzkampfgeschwader, Zerstörergeschwader, and various reconnaissance and transport units.

Normally fully motorised, consisted of 150 men, and was divided into 4 platoons (züge) - 3 Betriebszüge and 1 Werkstattzug, and would normally follow the Gruppe around to the various bases.

Initially most Gruppen had 2 FBK's, but this was changed to one each, after 1.43.

Formed 5.39 in Gotha, and served with I./KG4. On 10.1.43 redesignated 3.FBK-KG4.

Reformed 10.1.43 in Gutenfeld from 2.FBK-KG4. Disbanded 10.43.

Reformed 10.43 in Nikolayev-Ost from 1. FBK-KG100.

Served with I./KG4 (5.39 - 5.45), but possibly III./KG4 (10.40 - 1.43)

Formed 5.39 in Gotha, and served with I./KG4. On 10.1.43 redesignated 1. FBK-KG4.

Reformed 10.1.43 in Seschtschinskaja from 4.FBK-KG4.

Served with I./KG4 (5.39 - 1.43) and II./KG4 (1.43 - 5.45)

Formed 10.1.43 in Woroschilowgrad from 1. FBK-KG4.

Served with III./KG4 (1.43 - 5.45)

Formed 5.39 in Erfurt, and served with II./KG4. On 10.1.43 redesignated 2. FBK-KG4.

Reformed 10.1.43 in Avord from 10.FBK-KG4. In 8.44 redesignated 150. Flughafenbetriebskompanie (Qu).

Served with II./KG4 (5.39 - 1.43) and IV./KG4 (1.43 - 8.44)
