Formed 26.8.39 in Wuppertal from parts of Flak-Regiment 14, with 1. - 5. Batterien (1. - 3. schwere, 4. - 5. leichte). Until 7.42 known as Reserve-Flak-Abteilung 142.
In 1943 reorganised as a schwere Flak-Abteilung:
4./gem.142 converted to heavy AA guns
5./gem.142 became 1./996, and was not reformedProbably disbanded in 6.44.

- 5.42 at Kursk under 10. Flak-Division (Stab/Flak-Regiment 153)
- 2.43 at Kursk
- 1.11.43 in Rerik attached to Flak-Artillerie-Schule I, under 8. Flak-Brigade [now as s.142 (o)]
