Formed 10.41 in Luftgau VI with 1. - 5. Batterien (1. - 3. schwere, 4. - 5. leichte). Until 7.42 known as Res.Flak-Abt. 343.

Reorganised as a schwere Abteilung in 4.42:

4./Res.343 became 2./978, and was reformed
5./Res.343 became 3./978

Reorganised as a gemischte Abteilung in mid-1943, when 2 new leichte Batterien was formed:

5./gem.343 from 2./912
6./gem.343 from 2./991

In late 1944 6./gem.343 became 5./875.
