Formed 26.8.39 in Berlin with 1. - 6. schwere Batterien, and no Stab. Until 7.42 known as Res.Flak-Abt. 514.

In mid-1940 reorganised as a normal gemischte Abteilung with 5 Batterien:

1./Res.514 from 3./514
2./Res.514 from 4./514
3./Res.514 from 5./514
4./Res.514 from Fla-MG-Res.Kp. 56
5./Res.514 from le.Res.Flak-Bttr. 1./III

(the old 1. - 2. and 6./514 had become 1. - 3./516).

Reorganised as a schwere Abteilung in 1943:

4./gem.514 became 4./749, and was reformed
5./gem.514 became 3./716, and was reformed
6./s.514 new

7./s.514 was formed in 1944.

Stab/s.514 operated as Stab/Flakgruppe Aachen until 9.44, when it was reorganised as a gemischte Abteilung and moved to the western front.

In 12.44 reduced to 2. - 4./s.514:

Stab/s.514 became Stab/419
5./s.514 became 1./419
6./s.514 became 2./419
7./s.514 became 3./419
1./s.514 became 1./435

2./s.514 was also known as RAD 6./334.
