Formed 26.8.39 in Bochum from parts of I./Flak-Regiment 4, with 1. - 5. Batterien (1. - 3. schwere, 4. - 5. leichte). Until 7.42 known as Res.Flak-Abt. 403.

Reorganised as a schwere Abteilung in late 1942 with 3 Batterien:

4./gem.403 became 3./881
5./gem.403 became 4./881

Disbanded 6.43:

1./s.403 was destroyed in Tunisia (5.43)
2./s.403 became 1./304
3./s.403 became 1./Flak-Erdkampfschule Süd

Reformed 7.43 in Düsseldorf as s.Flak-Abt. 403 (o) with 3 Batterien.

4. - 6./s.403 was formed in late 1943:

4./s.403 from s.Flak-Bttr.zbV 5727
5./s.403 from s.Flak-Bttr.zbV 5728
6./s.403 from s.Flak-Bttr.zbV 5729

In 9.44 6./s.403 became b.mot, and moved to Hungary.

In 12.44 5./s.403 became 3./803.
